  • Experience with insurance restoration or reconstruction work
  • Finish carpentry experience
  • Familiarity with lead-safe work practices for older homes

Most carpenters know the work: frame it, hang it, trim it, finish it. Restoration carpentry adds a twist. The job begins after a disaster, and the family or business owner is counting on the crew to make the space feel like theirs again.

What the work looks like

At Bales Cleaning and Restoration, our mitigation teams dry the structure and remove what cannot be saved. Carpenters step in after that to rebuild. One week you might be reframing a wall in a flooded basement. The next you might be hanging drywall in a kitchen that had a fire, or matching trim in an older home.

That variety is part of the appeal. No two projects look the same, and you will use a wide range of the trade rather than one repeated task.

Working with scopes

Many of our projects are insurance repairs, so you will often work from a written scope of work. Part of the job is reading that scope, building to it, and letting the office know when you find something on site that changes the plan, such as hidden damage behind a wall.

Why people stay in this work

Helping someone on a bad day means something. A homeowner who walked through a flooded living room a few weeks ago is now standing in a finished one, and you are the reason. You will also learn alongside the mitigation side of the company: how drying works, why materials get removed, and how to build so the problem does not come back.

We are a local company based in St. Charles, serving St. Charles and St. Louis Counties, so the work is close to home.
